My name is Alesja Rog. I still remember walking into N-dub in September of 2004 for my first day of grade 8. I came into my first class at the Pearson building and sat next to a girl named Andreea, and this was grade 8 science with Mrs. Marinkovich. She, Mrs. Harbick and Mr. Sangra were some of my favourite teachers. To this day I still remember a lot of my classmates, their names and many teachers. My time at NWSS was great. I transferred to VanTech and graduated from it in 2009 but even so, I ended up going in 2019 to both reunions, it was great catching up with my old friends and classmates and actually seeing them in person. I also went twice in 2019 to NWSS to catch up with Mrs.Harbick as well as Mr.Sangra and walking through those halls 16 years later was pretty awesome. All the memories came back and I think about those times a lot, times were very different back then. With less technology and flip phones and running home right after school to chat with friends on MSN and when using a computer was actually very exciting, because we had limited access to it and no wifi and telling our friends to call after 8pm because that’s when we had free minutes on our phones...omg lol. Yes , that was the life back then, and it was great!
Awesome memories at New Westminster Secondary School and now that it closed down, it’s like we can never re visit those memories, but for the generations to come it’s of course great to have a new school with the standards and features for the modern times!
